Adas Yoshuron is currently selling two items that are popular with our congregation and the local community: a CD recorded by the Adas Yoshuron Synagogue Choir and the 100th-anniversary edition of our cookbook. Both can be ordered through the synagogue office.
SONGS OF LIFE AND FAITH This CD features the Adas Yoshuron Synagogue Choir, under the direction of member Dr. Dana Goldsmith. The music combines Baltimore cantor Abba Weisgall’s compositions and his son Dr. Hugo Weisgall’s arrangements with music by the great 19th-century Central European cantor-composers of Jewish liturgical music. Dr. Goldsmith expanded their repertory with his arrangements of songs and prayers for Shabbat and in remembrance of the Holocaust. This recording was made in 2012, in honor of the shul’s 100th anniversary. Click below to view a video of the choir as they recorded the CD and listen to an interview with Deborah Weisgall, Dr. Weisgall’s daughter. The video was produced by filmmaker and member David Berez. (Note: The video is not for sale.)
TO ORDER Songs of Life and Faith ($25, plus shipping), please call Adas Yoshuron Synagogue at (207) 594-4523 or email info@adasyoshuron.org.

JEWISH MIDCOAST MAINE COOKING: 300 Favorite Family Recipes
This 100th-anniversary edition of our community cookbook includes the recipes of more than four generations of cooks from our midcoast-Maine members and friends. It is a treasure trove of Jewish, American and Maine culinary history. A special section is dedicated to the Sephardic cuisine of Mediterranean Jews. You’ll find lots of oldies-but-goodies, including traditional Jewish comfort food like kugel, brisket, matzo balls and stuffed cabbage — dishes that are delicious, soul warming and diverse. Proceeds will benefit the synagogue.
